Commercial Hard Floor Cleaning & Care Tips
High traffic volume is a challenge for commercial & office floors. Here are some helpful tips from ServiceMaster Clean to keep floors looking their best!
- Use exterior door mats to help remove dirt and grit from shoes and clean daily to maximize effectiveness.
- Do not slide items across your floors as they may cause deep scratches and gouges.
- Use protective felt pads on the feet of furniture and any items that come in contact with the floor.
- Vacuum with a brush or sweep floor regularly to remove sand, dirt, or grit that can act like sandpaper to scratch and dull your floor's finish.
- Clean up spills promptly.
- Do not use a wet mop on a hardwood floor as excessive water can cause damage.
- Do not use wax, oil soap or other cleaners on hard wood floors as these products can affect the appearance and make refinishing difficult.
- If possible, use area rugs in high-traffic areas.
- Maintain a consistent humidity level to avoid swelling, shrinking, cupping, cracking and gapping in hard wood floors.
