  • Use protective felt pads on the feet of furniture and any items that comes in contact with hard floors.
  • Vacuum with a brush or sweep floor regularly to remove sand, dirt, or grit that can act like sandpaper to scratch and dull your floor's finish.

  • Do not use a wet mop on a hard wood floor as excessive water can cause damage.
  • Do not use wax, oil soap or other cleaners on hard wood floors as these products can affect the appearance and make refinishing difficult.
  • Use exterior door mats to help remove dirt and grit from shoes.
  • Use area rugs in high-traffic areas.
  • Maintain a consistent humidity level to avoid swelling, shrinking, cupping, cracking and gapping in hard wood floors.
  • Avoid scratches and gouges from high heels and keep your pet's nails trimmed.
